A Daytona Beach resident, Adrian Morales, was arrested after sending threatening messages that included a video showing gunshots and the statement: “This is what’s in store.” The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Domestic Security Unit located Morales at the Icon One Daytona apartments, which are situated directly across from Daytona International Speedway. He was apprehended without incident on Saturday, one day before the Daytona 500.

Law enforcement expressed concern about Morales’ close proximity to the Speedway because of his previous disputes and aggressive communications with a NASCAR executive. While his most recent threats were aimed at another individual, they also mentioned grievances involving the Sheriff’s Office, DEA, and FBI.

Authorities stated that Morales’ increasingly erratic behavior prompted immediate action. After his arrest, detectives found an AR-15 rifle used in the video along with multiple rounds of ammunition in his vehicle parked at Icon One Daytona.

Following these events, a judge ordered that Morales be held at the Volusia County Branch Jail without bond.
