Deputies rescue woman from house fire in DeLand

Overnight in DeLand, Deputy Austin Graham responded to a house fire on Palmetto Drive. Upon arrival, he entered the burning home and found a woman unresponsive on the hallway floor.

Deputy Graham, with assistance from Deputy Vargas, pulled the woman out of the house. Deputy Vargas then began rescue breathing while emergency services were called. The victim was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

According to recent updates, the woman is now stable and expected to recover fully. Authorities report that the fire appears to have started accidentally in the kitchen.

Deputy Graham was evaluated at the scene for smoke inhalation but did not require hospitalization.
