Dajuan Patrick, a 27-year-old from Jacksonville, was arrested on Mar. 12 by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on a warrant from Volusia County in connection with the death of his infant daughter.
Patrick faces a charge of aggravated manslaughter of a child following the death of five-week-old Dahlia Siebenhaar in December 2024. The case has drawn attention due to the severity of the injuries and the age of the victim.
According to authorities, Dahlia was admitted to the hospital on Dec. 2, 2024, unresponsive and suffering from severe injuries. She never regained consciousness and was removed from life support ten days later. Medical and autopsy records indicated that she had extensive head trauma, broken ribs, bruising across her body, and retinal hemorrhages consistent with being shaken and held forcefully. Her death was ruled a homicide by Volusia County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. James Fulcher.
Investigators said their findings were based on interviews, medical records, and other evidence that determined Patrick shook and spanked Dahlia, resulting in her fatal injuries.
“The arrest in this case won’t bring Dahlia back or give her the childhood she deserved, but today we’re speaking up for her, because her life mattered,” Sheriff Mike Chitwood said.
Patrick is currently being held without bond in Jacksonville as he awaits extradition to Volusia County.
