From Sheriff Mike Chitwood

Candle 760x475

Volusia Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on Aug. 5.

RIP Officer Justin White and sincere condolences to his loving family and the entire Port Orange Police Department from all of us at the Volusia Sheriff's Office. Officer White, a husband, father of 4, coach, and 15-year POPD veteran, was one of many dedicated public servants continuing to work on the front lines during this pandemic.

More than 300 law enforcement officers have died from covid-19 related illness in the line of duty since 2020, the biggest single cause of line-of-duty death during that time. More than the senseless murders that seem to be happening left and right, all tragedies in their own right. May Justin White rest in peace and may his family find the strength and support they need to carry on in his memory.
