Daytona Beach issued the following announcement on Aug. 27.
Lessons are for children ages 6 to 10, with participants divided into three groups: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Lessons for each group will be 30 minutes in duration, starting with beginners at 4:30 every Monday and Wednesday at Cypress Aquatic Center, 981 George W. Engram Blvd. Lessons will be every Tuesday and Thursday, starting with beginners at 4:30 p.m. at Campbell Aquatic Center, 400 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Lessons are $30 per participant for a total of eight lessons. Financial scholarships are available for qualifying youth. Registration is at the Cypress Aquatic Center, which is open from noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The Mayor’s Swim Club is an initiative by Mayor Derrick Henry that is working toward ensuring all youth in Daytona Beach learn to swim. Additional sponsors include Advent Health, VyStar Credit Union, Vitas Health Care, Walmart, Bank of America, Dick's Sporting Goods and Embassy of Hope.
