Volusia County Schools issued the following announcement on Oct. 7.

Due to the overall downward trend of COVID numbers in our community, I have made the decision to make face-coverings optional and voluntary for all adults, including employees, parents, volunteers, vendors, and other visitors in VCS schools and facilities, effective immediately.

Employees who would like to continue wearing appropriate face-coverings can do so.

Additional information about COVID-19 health and safety is available at the Volusia County Schools’ COVID-19 Information site at vcsedu.org/covid-19-information.

We will continue to closely monitor the course of the virus and will notify you of any updates.

And remember, if you are sick or experiencing symptoms of illness, please stay home.

Let’s continue to all work together for a safe, healthy, and successful school year!
