Boat ramp in Deltona closing for water project

Waterpipe

City of Deltona issued the following announcement on Dec. 9.

The City of Deltona will close the Lake Monroe Boat Launch on Lakeshore Drive beginning Jan. 3, 2022, with a projected re-opening in June 2023. This measure is necessary for construction of the Alexander Avenue Reclaimed Water Augmentation Project also known as the Lake Monroe Project.

Boaters are encouraged to use the Mariner’s Cove Park boat ramp at 1199 Enterprise-Osteen Road. Admission to the park is free and it is open daily from sunrise to sunset.

The Lake Monroe Project is a collaboration between the City and the St Johns River Water Management District for the withdrawal of up to 12 million gallons of surface water per day from Lake Monroe (the St. Johns River) for the purpose of providing treated water to recharge the aquifer and increasing flows at Blue Springs in Orange City.
