Residents Encouraged to Participate in Deltona Parks Survey

Surveyaa

City of Deltona issued the following announcement on Jan. 20.

The City of Deltona Parks and Recreation Department invites all residents and guests to take a survey to help shape future park development and recreational programming.  The opportunity to take part in the survey ends on February 5, 2022.  The survey is an essential component in the City’s quest for accreditation of parks and recreation.

What is accreditation and why is it important? The department is going through this process to ensure citizens and visitors are receiving the highest level of service by adopting national best practices and subjecting themselves to scrutiny and review by independent auditors on a regular basis. Deltona is striving to become the first city or county parks and recreation agency in Volusia County to achieve this distinction.

Why is the City of Deltona Parks and Recreation Department engaged in this process now? The City is planning for a post-pandemic and future-ready status in every department. The City Commission and the Acting City Manager are committed to filling necessary staffing positions that were lost during the great recession more than a decade ago and support this quest for excellence.

Why is survey participation so important? This first stage of community feedback and public scoping will guide the development of current and future parks and recreational programming for all ages. In this City, with robust commercial and residential growth, this public participation is vital to reserve areas for future park use to benefit citizens and visitors.
