DeBary leaders were on hand, along with Volusia County representatives

Bicycle

City of DeBary issued the following announcement on Jan. 21.

DeBary leaders were on hand, along with Volusia County representatives, to help open a major portion of the trails, connecting the West DeBary Spring-to-Spring section of the St Johns River-to-Sea Loop and extending the trail all the way to Titusville.

The City is moving forward with a trail-first mindset, expanding and linking our bicycle and walking trails.  Taking advantage of the fact that the 3 major Central Florida bike trails intersect at only one spot in their over 600 miles of trails – right here in DeBary – the City requires any new developments to provide trail connections, linking residents to the trails.  This emphasis helped us earn the Florida Bicycle Association’s Bike Friendly City of the Year designation in 2020.

Our new Main Street concept is right along the trails and will provide even more amenities for trail users.  And our Riverbend South conservation property, which we hope to acquire this year with Florida Forever and Volusia Forever funding, will extend our trails right to the river with a two-mile riverfront trail.

This year will be pivotal for DeBary as we continue to focus on our eco-tourism. With this new trail extension, we look forward to hosting even more trail enthusiasts and all of you in DeBary, to discover that DeBary, Naturally, is more than you imagined!
