This week we are celebrating our City of DeLand Public Works Department for National Public Works Week! The theme for this year, established by the American Public Works Association, is Ready and Resilient!
All week long we will be highlighting our crews and all that they do for the City of DeLand. There are 7 divisions and 2 sub-divisions within the Public Works Department and are critical in keeping DeLand safe, clean and beautiful. We are grateful for everything that each of these crews are responsible for and appreciate the hard work and dedication they put in day in and day out to help keep DeLand the city that everyone loves.
Today we are highlighting our Urban Beautification Division and Streets Division. These crews are essential in keeping our streets clean and safe, our sidewalks passable and our Downtown landscape blooming. You can find our Urban Beautification crew downtown early in the mornings cleaning and power washing our sidewalks, emptying trash cans and maintaining the beautiful flowers and landscape. They are also responsible for the landscape for City owned facilities, keeping our parking lots (14) clean and cleaning up after numerous downtown events. Meanwhile, our Streets Department crew is busy repairing our paved streets and maintaining/repairing our sidewalks and curbs to provide safe passage to motorists and pedestrians. Both crews are essential in aiding with clean up when natural disaster occurs and for that we are very grateful for their hard work and dedication.
