The City was awarded a $227,000 beautification grant in 2019 for Hwy 17-92 between Highbanks Rd and Plantation Drive from the Florida Department of Transportation.  FDOT only allows certain type of trees for visibility and power lines and the trees must be planted in FDOT's right of way. Once established, trees will be trimmed and shaped accordingly. The locations were landscaped and engineered. City Council had 6 or more meetings discussing and approving this project. This initiative was first created by a group of DeBary residents to beautify our corridor. FDOT has no plans to widen Hwy 17-92. The City has and will continue to object to any widening project. The traffic light at Lake/Colomba will be installed and functional by 8/20/22. We are working with FDOT on a number of projects to improve safety and mobility.
