To get everyone ready for the school year, the City of DeLand and Dr. Joyce M. Cusack Resource Center are partnering together for the 12th annual Mayor's Backpack Giveaway and Community Health Initiative.
The backpack giveaway will be from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, August 6 at Earl Brown Park, 815 South Alabama Avenue.
There will be a limit of one ticket per student to receive a backpack.
Vendors will also be on site with free school supplies.
