Volusia County School District Education: More students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

Volusia County School District had an increase in student enrollment during the 2022-23 school year, according to the Florida Department of Education. Overall, there was a total of 63,365 students enrolled in the district in the academic year.

Data reveals that the majority of students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year were white, representing 53.3% of the Volusia County School District total enrollment.

Additionally, the largest portion of students in the district are enrolled in elementary school grades, making up 43% of the total enrollment.

Volusia County School District covers 88 schools within Volusia County, with its main office in Deland.

Among the 88 schools in Volusia County School District, Deland High School recorded the highest enrollment of 2,926 students in the 2022-23 school year.

In 2022, Florida had more than 2.8 million students enrolled in a total of 4,202 schools. There were 163,558 teachers in the public schools, or roughly one teacher for every 17 students, compared to the national average of 1:16.

Private school enrolment increased by more than 51,000 students in the 2021-22 school year, which was a notable rebound after the pandemic. In total, there were 416,084 students enrolled, marking the highest enrollment in private schools reported by the Florida Department of Education in 30 years.
